বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনী দেশের জনগণের আস্থার প্রতীক। রাষ্ট্রের প্রয়োজনে সেনাবাহিনী জনগণের পাশে আছে এবং থাকবে। এমন মন্তব্য করেছেন সেনাপ্রধান জেনারেল ওয়াকার-উজ-জামান।

শনিবার (৩ আগস্ট) সেনাসদরে ‘অফিসার্স অ্যাড্রেস’ গ্রহণের সময় এ কথা বলেন তিনি। এ সময় বাহিনীর কার্যক্রম সম্পর্কে বিভিন্ন দিকনির্দেশনা প্রদান ও বিভিন্ন প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেন তিনি।

সেনাপ্রধান বাহিনীর সদস্যদের উদ্দেশ্য করে বলেন, সততা, সত্যনিষ্ঠা ও ন্যায়পরায়ণতার সাথে দায়িত্ব পালন করতে হবে। যেকোনও পরিস্থিতিতে জনগণের জান-মাল ও রাষ্ট্রীয় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থাপনার নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে হবে। এ সময় সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমের বিভিন্ন গুজব সম্পর্কে সচেতন থাকারও পরামর্শ দেন তিনি।

এ সময় সেনাসদরের ঊর্ধ্বতন সামরিক কর্মকর্তাসহ সকল সেনানিবাস হতে ফরমেশন কমান্ডার, সেনাকর্মকর্তারা ভিডিও টেলিকনফারেন্সের মাধ্যমে এতে অংশগ্রহণ করেন।
